Homestead Care Home
Homestead Care Home is a private and purpose built residential care home providing specialised care for elderly people suffering from past and present mental illnesses. The Home provides all aspects of care on a twenty-four hour basis. A team of one Director, Manager assisted by four deputies and a team of Care Assistants operate the home. Two Cooks, two Domestics, two Activities Coordinators and two Laundry Assistants also form part of the team.
Homestead Care Home was opened in April 1986 and is registered with Walsall, Staffordshire and Birmingham Social Services. It has kept itself ahead with legislation and development within the care industry.
The Homestead is the only residential care home for the mentally ill within the Walsall Borough that has achieved the internationally recognised standard of ISO 9001:2008 and the nationally recognised standard: Investors In people.
All Staff receive training to meet current legislation. Training Includes: QCFs (formerly NVQs) in First Aid, Manual Handling, Food and Hygiene, Fire Safety Training, Bereavement Understanding, Skin Care Training, Dementia Training plus the Basic and Intermediate In-House Training.
Facilities
The accommodation we provide is designed to make our residents feel comfortable in their surroundings. We actively encourage residents to decorate their room with their own belongings to promote a sense of familiarity. The bedrooms are tastefully decorated and most have en-suite toilet facilities. As well as large private areas, the home has a large lounge and conservatory where residents can relax or meet with visitors. At the rear of the house, there is a large landscaped garden where residents can sit or enjoy a spot of gardening and outdoor activities.
Our catering staff provide a traditional and varied menu of delicious home-cooked meals. All specific dietary requirements and nutritional needs of residents are catered for.
The cuisine at Homstead Care Home is all locally sourced and freshly prepared each day. Our chef provides a varied and balanced menu and happily caters for special diets and preferences, where requested. Fresh fruit and vegetables from our local suppliers are offered daily. Residents can choose to enjoy the social aspect of meal times by taking their meals in our comfortable dining room or in the privacy of their own rooms, if they so choose.
