Richardson Partnership for Care – 2/8 Kingsthorpe Grove
2/8 Kingsthorpe Grove are two adjacent detached Victorian properties. They are under one registration for administrative purposes but cater for different levels of needs, personalities and choices. Both homes provide spacious accommodation with generous gardens and plenty of communal space.
Number 2 is home to eight adults and number 8 is home to ten adults, some of whom have enjoyed living here for over 20 years. We pay particular attention to managing the transition for young people from school to an adult environment.
Residential Care Homes in Northamptonshire for adults with an acquired brain injury or learning difficulties
At the Richardson Partnership for Care (RPC) we provide a residential care package which is tailored to meet the needs of each individual, whether they have an acquired brain injury, learning difficulties or a combination of complex needs, for example, mental health. We ensure that they have the right level of care and support. Our multi-disciplinary clinical support team includes a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Assistant Psychologists, Psychiatrist, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist and Speech & Language Therapist.
We have five residential care homes in Northampton. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and are regulated for personal care. We predominantly provide care for adults who have an acquired brain injury, learning difficulty and/or mental health needs. Our dedicated care staff receive regular training in all aspects of their work and are trained to carry on and support the work of the therapists. On average, our support staff have over 10 years care experience and our care home managers average 30 years.
We are highly respected in managing different levels of challenging behaviour and our aim is to enable service users to fulfill their potential. We strongly believe that environment and social inclusion are at the heart of fulfilment, and that this combined with clinical care, leads to continual and successful rehabilitation or progress.
Our Care Homes
We have five residential care homes in Northampton, which provide specialist care and support for adults with learning disabilities and separately for adults with acquired brain injuries. We are experienced in looking after people with associated behaviour that challenges, mental health issues and physical disabilities.
Our care homes range from eight to 25 bedrooms, which all have ensuite or private bathrooms. Bedrooms are generously proportioned and can be decorated to suit the style and taste of the service user before they move in. Each home is different and they are all listed below with relevant CQC rating. When accepting someone new, we carefully consider the home which will be most suitable for them including the existing residents and the dynamics within the home.
Our care homes provide a unique environment and we strongly believe that light, spacious, attractive living spaces improve mood and well-being. They are all buildings with character, designed and decorated like a home – not an institution.
There is also plenty of communal space, so service users can choose who to socialise with, or they can do activities on their own, without being confined to their room. This feeling of space and calmness reduces stress and makes the environment more conducive to recovery.
All Richardson Partnership care homes are situated close to local shops and amenities so residents can integrate with the local community and develop their life skills.
Benefits of living in a communal setting
Residential care for someone with an acquired brain injury or learning disabilities may not seem the ideal solution for their family, who perhaps feel that they should be looked after ‘at home’. However, specialist residential care by people who understand and cater for the individual’s clinical, psychological and social needs can significantly improve their condition and their quality of life.
Social isolation can be a major problem for people living independently. Not only can it cause loneliness, stress and mental health issues, it can be physically damaging and result in sleep problems.
At The Richardson Partnership for Care, we provide a warm, positive and friendly atmosphere while still respecting service users’ need for privacy and to spend time on their own. This choice and the support that’s provided remove the threat of social isolation.
